I literally had no idea who Say Hi were, until one day a girlfriend was playing them when I arrived at her house! We were hanging out listening and I realized that the entire album was basically about Vampires! I thought how weird and yet how interesting of an album concept!
The primary band member Eric Elbogen is one damn talented musician and writes and records pretty much all the music by himself! Well, we saw that they had a concert date in our city, so we grabbed our tickets and the day of the show finally arrived! We got a little "gothed" out for the show, just for fun, you know the vampire theme, and interestingly, we were not the only ones! It was such a mix of people in this crowd and it was quite entertaining in itself!
When the lights dimmed and the band hit the stage, the crowd got excited and Say Hi rocked it out! There was indeed this dark sort of feel to the stage and the performance, maybe a bit of that Vampire feeling, but it was entertaining for sure! I enjoyed the show, but my girlfriend really enjoyed it, she is a much bigger fan than I am, but by the end of the show I was sold, and was just impressed with how good of a live performance these guys put on!
The Cleveland Living Room Show for Say Hi was certainly something different and I did enjoy this innovative concert format: intimate and low key acoustic only, it was just Eric who played his best songs from his 12 albums in the host's private garage/artist studio. He democratically took audience requests for his songs that would work with his 6 string. I'm certainly glad we went. Everyone was whisper quiet while he was playing, and just taking in and enjoying his brilliant song writing, guitar/vocals, interesting anecdotes with insights to his songs...all while he played 10-20' away. Glad to see Say Hi is back creating and playing again!
One of my favourite concerts to date! Eric greeted us all personally and took tons of requests. He was clearly there to bring us all a fantastic time and was just real AF all night. A beautiful human. LOVE love him even more now, what a great show.
