There aren’t many bands who get signed to labels based solely on their demos before they’ve even played their first show. However, the Atlanta based metalcore band Woe, Is Me were the rare exception to the rule. Uploading three demos onto the social networking site MySpace, the band were approached by Velocity an imprint of the alternative/metal label Rise Records where they released two albums “Number[s]” and “Genesi[s]”.
It wasn’t long before they eventually got the touring bug playing alongside bands like: From First to Last, Sleeping with Sirens, Attilla, Abandon All Ships and featuring on the prestigious Warped Tour (often likened to a rite of passage). With their dynamic of clean and unclean vocals combined with an electronic twist on metalcore remaining constant despite several line-up changes, Woe Is Me acquired a strong and dedicated following.
The moment that the band step on stage, they turn up the heat giving 110%, whipping the crowd into a frenzy with crowdsurfers making their move from the opening chords. With vocal duties shared between Hance Alligood and Doriano Magliano, they waste no time in owning the stage, leaning forth into the crowd who scream and sing along word for word and getting them even more hyped. It’s clear that Woe, Is Me have the crowd in the palm of their hands as mosh pits form left, right and centre as they play tracks such as “Fame >Demise”, “Mannequin Religion” and “Stand Up”. If you want energy fuelled chaos intertwined with face-melting riffs, look no further than Woe, Is Me.
