The band name is derived from their hometown in Byron Bay, after the house that the band practised in, which is called “Parkway House”, on the street, Parkway Drive. Their first release was a split EP with a band called I Killed the Prom Queen. The EP was simply called “I Killed the Prom Queen/Parkway Drive: Split CD". After national tours, the band entered the studio with Adam Dutkiewicz, the guitarist from metalcore band, Killswitch Engage, who produced their debut album, “Killing with a Smile”. It was released in May of 2005, and gained a lot of critical acclaim.
It was the band’s sophomore album, “Horizons”, released on October 6th 2007, again, produced by Adam Dutkiewicz that debuted at #6 on the ARIA Albums Chart. It also peaked at #27 on the US Top Heatseekers chart. Their following album, “Deep Blue” was released on June 25th 2010, this time, they decided to allow a different producer, Joe Barresi, to take the reigns on this album. This was a worthy follow up, seeing the album debut at #2 on the ARIA chart, and #39 on the Billboard 200 chart. It went on to win the 2010 ARIA Award for “Best Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Album”
Following an international tour, they went back into the studio to record the album “Atlas” in Los Angeles, California. It was released on October 26th 2012, with the leading single being the song “Dark Days”. This album achieved Gold status in Australia. The album reached 25 of 101 in the Kerrang! end of year list.
February 2014, saw the band announce that they would be playing on the main stage of the Vans Warped Tour.

When I heard that Parkway Drive, a metalcore band from Australia, was going to do a show at The Glass House in February, 2014, I had to go. The Glass House is one of my favorite music venues because of its amazing acoustics, so I thought it would be a great show - and it was.
The audience was what I expected for a metalcore show, metalheads like myself. What I didn't expect was relative newcomer Jia O'Connor's outstanding ability to play the bass, considering before joining the band he wasn't a guitar player. The show started with "Unrest" and that made the crowd go wild.
It continued with classic Parkway Drive songs, including "Sleepwalker," "Boneyards," "Idols and Anchors," and, finally, my favorite, "Carrion." The last song was "Dark Days" with a light show that banged right along to the rapid-fire pace of the music.
Parkway Drive has had its ups and downs with arrivals and departures of band members. However, the main core of the band has stayed together and it never lost the thread that held it together - good music with great lyrics, vocals, and instrumentals. Their live show was a treat and if you get the chance to see them, go because you'll be glad you did.
A really energetic show, and Winston is never without a smile on stage, and he knows how to get the crowd going. It was totally heavy and screaming the whole time. On a side note, they joke that Pie isnt in the bass much, but I could hear him and he was having a lot of fun. Same for Jeff and Luke, too; they were spot-on with their playing. Ben has to be one of the most underrated drummers in metal today; that guy exact in his playing. It was my first time to see PWD and is definitely one of the shows I will see the next time they come around \m/
Awesome set by Parkway Drive. Was my first PD show, so I wasn't sure what to expect especially since they just put out a less hardcore (compared to older stuff) record. However, I was very happy with the mix of the songs they played, only playing 3 new songs mixed throughout the entire set. They played 8 songs then a 2 song encore (Crushed, Home is for the Heartless) for about a 50 minute set. The band can really bring it, the energy in the venue was insane. 4-5 people crowd surfing at a time, decent sized circle pit. Would rate 10/10.
Parkway Drive Reverence Was Just AMAZING To Say The Least, The Band Was Full Of Energy And Put On A Spectacular Performance, I Will Definitely Seeing Them Again When They Come Through!!! And Killswitch Engage Was Just Amazing As Well Put Out Some Awesome Tunes!! Unfortunately I Missed Thy Art Is Murder, Didn't Get In Early Enough But From What I Heard They Were Awesome As Well!!! Love All Three Bands To Death!!!!!!!
Parkway Drive was absolutely amazing. They sound exactly like their album. The pyrotechnics were phenomenal. The venue was very large with great sound quality. Parkway Drive was the headliner when we saw them and they play an excellent mix of older and newer songs. I would highly recommend seeing them if you like any of the their music.
Man - I love seeing Parkway Drive every time they make it out here to Colorado. I love to listen to their music, but seeing them live just shows how great of a band they are. The energy is always tops and they never slow down regardless of the altitude here in Colorado that seem to affect some bands in big ways.
They just kick ass!!
10/10 show. Great setlist, amazing energy and the crowd was clearly there to party. Winston's vocals sounded incredible and the boys in the band crushed their sections too.
The "No moshing or crowdsurfing" rule was quickly ignored. Can't stress enough how fun the crowd was and PWD fed off that energy all night.
Parkway Drive will always be one of those bands I drop everything for in order to go see. I saw the when they performed last year at House of Blues Nola and it was A-mazing. This year only proved to be better than ever! The energy the boys bring is unmatched and I cannot wait until they come back <3 <3
Absolutely amazing!!! As a 50 something year old die hard rocker!! It's wonderful to see music progress. Me and my children went to see them I say children 15 & 23! I had to rescue my girl from the mosh pit (kicking and screaming!) Fantastic night had by all thank you it was a pleasure!
Great Band!!
Sound much better live and the Dramatics kept coming and coming!
By far the best band I’ve seen live so far !
I would definitely go to see them again .
The supporting Bands “Killswitch engage”
And “Thy art is murder” were also an epic part of the Gig !
