Having started playing music at an early age, Huszar found a talent for drums with this love for rhythm spurring an interest in dance music, becoming a fan of trance and hardstyle alongside his taste for rock and metal. At 15, he began experimenting with DJing, using his friend’s equipment before getting his own, becoming the first choice of DJ for his school dances. He created his own remixes at a prolific rate, focusing on songs that were popular at his high school, such as Ying Yang Twins, Pussycat Dolls and Chris Brown.
After finishing high school, Huszar began producing his own music, lending his talents to electro rap outfit, The Girls Can Hear Us. Choosing the alias OVERWERK, Huszar released a number of his remixes in 2010 and 2011, gaining praise for his work on Wolfgang Gartner’s “Space Junk.” His self-released debut EP, “The Nth º” was made available for free on Soundcloud and Bandcamp in 2011, with this release gaining him a number of fans and critical acclaim. Huszar then embarked on a Canadian tour, as well as featuring on the lineup for Escapade Music Festival in 2012.
Huszar’s first release of original productions was the 20102 EP, “After Hours,” which featured the track “Daybreak,” which was used for a popular GoPro commercial. Further remixes found success, with Chromeo’s “Night by Night” and Clean Bandit’s “Rather Be” all receiving praise, with the latter being released on Atlantic Records.
Whilst Huszar had toured Canada and Europe extensively, it was not until 2014 that he embarked on a US tour. In anticipation for this, a new EP, “Exist” was released, gaining praise throughout the dance music press. A number of brands have since used his music for commercials, helping to spread OVERWERK’s music to new fans, having been used in advertisements by Red Bull, Lamborghini, Gucci and Prada.
