Boy do The Meters (or The Original Meters, depending on who you ask or when you ask them) know how to put on one heck of a show!

When I saw them play in New Orleans at The Howlin' Wolf, I was completely blown away by how passionate and into their music these musicians were.

The Meters put on one funky show that was so infectious that I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't a single person who wasn't tapping their foot or bobbing their head along to the songs pouring out from the musicians onstage amidst the bright flashing lights that pulsated along with the music.

Art "Poppa Funk" Neville singing "Fire On The Bayou" was absolutely unbelievable, pouring his soul into the song with every single word. The audience went completely wild after this performance, and the encore was even better than anything else they'd been doing up until this point (and that's saying a lot!).

When The Meters started to play "People Say," (as the encore, mind you) the crowd went berserk, bobbing along to George Porter Jr.'s funky basslines and the incredible Leo Nocentelli on the guitar.

Overall, The Meters put on a funky, fun performance that was as engaging as it was exciting and is a memory I'll hold dear for years to come.

Dumpstaphunk doesn't fear scaring locals with their massive wall of low-frequency funk that blasts the audience and even causes clothing to bow down and pulsate. Often with dueling basses handled masterfully by two artists whom would make Bootsy Collins and Larry Graham proud, the Neville Brothers' brand of New Orleans groove undergoes a neo-funk transformation that explodes from these extraordinary musicians. In short: they will funk you to death.
