Biografia
Founded by childhood friends Colin McFaull (vocals), Steve ‘Burge’ Burgess (bass), Mick Beaufoy (guitar) and Steve Bruce (drums) in 1972, the newly formed band were inspired by their surroundings and voiced their opinions on the woes of the working class through verse. Playing round local clubs and pubs in London, the band soon began developing their soon to be signature street punk style influenced by their love of rock and classic R&B. In 1976 the line-up expanded with the addition of Burgess’ cousin Garrie Lammin on rhythm guitar.
In 1977 Cock Sparrer signed with Decca Records to release their debut single “Runnin’ Riot”, the label saw the band’s potentiality to lead the emerging punk scene. However the single’s lack of chart success soon saw the band dropped by the label the following year. Despite the upheaval of the deal falling through, the band made the best out of the situation. With enough recorded material to produce an album, in 1978 Cock Sparrer collated the recordings to release their self-titled album only available in Spain.
Shortly after the album’s release the band experienced a brief hiatus, whilst parting ways with Lammin. Reforming in 1982, Lammin was replaced by Chris Skepis before the band signed a deal with Carrere Records. Later that year the band released the single “England Belongs To Me”. In 1983 Cock Sparrer released their debut album “Shock Troops” which featured the popular tracks “Riot Squad”, “Where Are They Now” and “I Got Your Number”.
With six studio albums under their belt, Cock Sparrer continue playing reunion shows around the globe, making regular appearances at punk festivals such as Rebellion, Punk & Disorderly and Riot Fest.

Word on the street is that Cock Sparrer, one of the first “Oi!” bands, that also fall under the “Pub Rock” bracket, are out on tour, and rightly so with their hard rock and punk style of playing. They formed in the East end of London in the mid 70s, and have been together since, taking inevitable hiatuses over time.
I had the chance to go and see them and it was an experience to say the least. With Cock Sparrer, there are no gimmicks whatsoever with this band, who walk out on stage with no black outs or anything along those lines that would suggest that they want the biggest applause as they walk out on stage. What you see is what you get. With guitars set to overdrive, they literally bash through some of their biggest hits, keeping the punters happy this evening. The guitars are gritty and so are the vocals of Colin McFaull. It’s such a mad energy that they bring to this venue. “England Belongs to Me” induces such a loud sing along, that I feel as though I’m at the biggest football derby ever.

Cock Sparrer were amazing! It was great to see them in their hometown. All three of them in one fell swoop: Last Resort, Cockney Rejects & Cock Sparrer in a row on one show day, just brilliant! We had a top spot on the balcony in the front line. The only thing was, I thought the Englishmen would sing a little more in the chorus. The "Singalong" was barely louder than gigs in Germany.

Cock sparrer killed it last night. Best show i've seen by far, up there with slapshot at kung fu, not sure if wisdom in chains was a great match for h2o, death threat and cock sparrer, great set list! Was totally worth seeing

Awesome venue! Super sound!! The opening bands were fun as well ! Hope you saw them they don't come around often
