The atmosphere was buzzing as soon as the guitar started up for Go Back to the Zoo’s live performance at Pinkpop back in 2011. The crowd started clapping and cheering for them the second they stepped onto the stage and then stomped along to the drumbeat when the music started. It was my first time seeing them live and straight away I knew their set would be brilliant. By the middle of their first song I was jumping up and down with everyone else and, since I didn’t yet know the words to their songs, contentedly humming along to their catchy tunes.
Go Back to the Zoo are a Dutch indie rock band that released their first single, ‘Beam Me Up’, back in 2009 and have gone on to have two albums and a number of successful singles. Their debut album, ‘Benny Blisto which was released in 2010, is particularly good – the song ‘Electric’ is one of their best!
There is plenty of material online to get you involved with this band but I would really recommend seeing them live as that’s where their music really jumps out at you! They are playing in Los Angeles from the 16th-18th October and after that they will be returning to tour in the Netherlands so make sure you get yourself over to see them – you won’t regret it!
