American singer Stephen Bishop is still touring the States all these years later and his performance is a real treat. The guitar wielding veteran is just as talented with his instrument as when he began his career back in 1975. The humble performer has had an interesting career and is happy to share tales with his audiences so if you're interested in not just this musician, but the musical history of the US, it's a show definitely worth seeing.
Finding fame with hits such as 'On and On' and 'Save It For A Rainy Day', his music went on to be featured in blockbuster films, picked up award nominations and continued to score hits on the US billboard charts. The singer/songwriter now seems far more content to perform his folk stylings for the love of music and entertaining, his falsetto voice is still sounding great and the minimal support really shows of his talents as an artist.
He's been steadily releasing albums throughout his career so you're sure to hear a mix of old and new material, including the smooth folk of 'It Might Be You'. Bishop has just completed a string of dates, yet keep an eye on his page as he is definitely an artist worth catching as he shows no sign of slowing pace.
In his acting work, in movies, Stephen Bishop always had his character identified as “Charming Guy”. (Animal House: Charming Guy on stairs with guitar)
Although time- he’s 68- has touched his voice and physique, just a bit . . . He’s as fun, lively, talented, and yes, charming as ever. This was a Grammy Museum forum with an interview from a moderator, and a performance afterwards. He was honest and entertaining throughout the questions and performance (with a truly spontaneous encore, demanded by the packed house).
His keyboard friend was accomplished and added just the right backing for this intimate evening.
I hope to see Stephen Bishop, in the future, with a full band.
