Like most bands who had their prime during the late ‘60’s and into the 70’s, some changes in personnel is inevitable. Losing Roy was a blow that was impossible to overlook. Luckily the changes made (adding the female singer) helped minimize the stage presentation. Song writing is clearly not the same, but I suspect no one in attendance really was there to hear new material. Hearing their now classic tunes was what we were there for, and they did not disappoint. Doing 4 shows here over the weekend had to be a challenge in itself, and they decided to not replicate any of the shows, instead they mixed in songs from across almost all of their catalogue. Sure there were some songs I’d like to have heard and didn’t but that’s ok. They sounded great. Except for that aforementioned female who at times looked almost bored (can’t dance to Nektar!), the guys seemed to be enjoying themselves and put on a very good show.
