Lets talk about the band, Kensington, an indie rock outfit from Utrecht in the Netherlands. They walk out to this receptive crowd whilst a drone plays and the lights flash whilst they do some last minute tuning on their instruments. It’s a one to three four from the drummer and they are straight into down tempo track “All for Nothing”. It’s fantastic that from start to finish not only are this audience fully engaged with what they’re doing but there is always without fail an audience singing along. “We Are the Young” picks up the tempo significantly, the beat emulating that of a disco beat with an off-beat hi-hat mixed with a four to the floor bass line. The singer, Casper Starreveld appears as quite a dark person, in his long black cardigan and black fedora upon his head. I’ve got to be honest, their sound is absolutely fantastic and completely what I’m into with the huge guitars adopting chorus and delay sounds, every riff being something that is sang along to. Such a fantastic atmosphere.
