John Doyle (Guitar) in partnership with two other viruoso musicians Mike McGoldrick (Flute/Uileann Pipes) and John McCusker (Fiddle/whistles) provided another wonderful evening of fine music and song in the Bury Met on the 13th of February. They played to a packed house and their mix of slow airs, bouncing jigs, reels and marches intermingled with John's selection of songs meant that there was something for everyone. They introduce their music with great stories and humour, but once the tunes are in full flow you know you are listening to three masters of their instruments. But it is not their virtuosity that enthralls, but the tune selection, their obvious joy at playing with respected peer musicians and the sheer enjoyment they infuse into the music. This is traditional music as it should be. Alive, passionate, bouncing, funky and with a smile on its face. And that is how the audience left, with a huge smile on its face. If you ever get the chance to catch these wonderful musicians live, I would strongly advise you to take the opportunity. Brilliant gig from brilliant musicians. Loved it!
