Meier Music Hall is full to bursting with fans of DJ LTJ Bukem. They are yelling and cheering long before the music starts, and when LTJ Bukem and his group finally do pick up their instruments, the crowd goes completely wild. Bukem launches into a hopping beat as the vocalist amps up the crowd, and soon everyone in the room, even the musicians, are taken away by the music. They dance, sing and jump all night long as Bukem and his group play “Horizons”, “Demon's Theme”, and more. LTJ Bukem, like many musicians, started playing music when he was young. As a boy, he learned classical piano, and soon developed an interest in jazz fusion. This foundation facilitated his decision later in life to become a DJ. It is easy to pick up the jazz influence on the funky drum and bass tracks that make up his compilation Logical Progression. As well as being a musician, LTJ Bukem has also worked successfully as a producer. What makes LTJ Bukem stand out as a DJ is that while he does play some of the typical, energetic, speedy beats, he also plays a unique jazz-techno fusion, which is softer and more groovy and melodious than the average techno song. LTJ Bukem is a new breed of DJ, and his masterfully innovative music may revolutionize the techno industry.
