Born the daughter of five-time Grammy Award winning disco singer Donna Summer, Amanda Sudano would spend summers of her youth singing in her mother’s backing band. Ramirez, fresh from graduating at the Douglas Anderson School of the Arts, first met Sudano after a Sunday service at a local church. Subsequently Ramirez held a songwriting workshop which Sudano attended and the two would start a both a fruitful romantic and musical relationship.
Despite forming in 2005, the pair’s debut release was the 2008 EP “1-4”, after which Ramirez and Sudano married and contributed to Bruce Sudano’s track “Morning Song” from his album “Life and the Romantic”. JOHNNYSWIM’s subsequent release was the 2010 three-track EP “5-8”, which was supported by a national tour and club residencies in New York and Los Angeles. Following the release of their third EP “Home, Vol. 1”, which marked the duo’s country music aesthetic, fashion brands became interested in collaborating with the couple.
Music labels soon came knocking and JOHNNYSWIM signed with Big Picnic in 2012 who issued the single “Heart Beats” the same year. The singles “Adelina”, “Home” and “Annie” also followed in 2012 after which the pair appeared on the radio variety show “A Prairie Home Companion”. In 2014 JOHNNYSWIM issued their debut full-length album “Diamonds”, showcasing the passion, skill, emotion, and angst that went in to creating such a record.

From breathtaking runs and powerful compassionate songs about love, to songs they wrote to the people that pissed them off in the past, this band will send chills through your entire body with every note they hit. Their show is something everyone should experience. I have followed johnnyswim for about two years. This married duo not only share the perfect harmonies on stage but also a chemistry that could set you afire. It's undeniable that this is what they were put on Earth to do.
I experienced their show in Jacksonville, Fl which is where Abner (The male of johnnyswim) is from. It was cute to see him sing the song adelina, which was written for his mother, to his mother standing in the crowd.
On The Diamonds tour, which is what they are on now, not one song is to disappoint. Each one is great. Whether you are in the mood to dance, vibe, or sing your heart out, Diamonds offers just that. I seriously can not rave enough on how good they are. Some of my favorite songs of theirs and ones you should check out just to see a sense of what they are about is You and I, Pay Dearly, Dont let it get you down, Adelina, Diamonds, I could seriously list every single song but go check them out. I promise you will not disappointed. And you are welcome. Your life is about to be forever changed.
It was my 68th birthday and I didn't get to go! I had misunderstood the process of getting general admission tickets as all reserved were sold out. Clearly I am not a regular concert go'er or a seasoned groupy.....and I was worried about not being able to sit down at all since I have back issues. Anyway, a very nice lady at Daryl's roadhouse said I could come at 3:30 p.m, claim a bar stool, and sit there until the show started at 9 as long as I was ordering something regularly. So that was my plan. And then I was checking the site again since I'd put up the offer of $100 for anyone's reserved ticket (they were $22) and NO
ONE wanted to give up their ticket.( That's how wonderful these two are!!!) And that's when I saw that General Admission was sold out. I quickly called and it was explained that usually the bar stool grab would work - but they had such an overwhelming response that they were at capacity. So how stupid am I?? Bar stool or no, I needed to get a general admission ticket to be sure I'd be part of the head count. What a dummy grandma I am. So I will have to wait until they are in the area again and be smarter about landing tickets.
Thanks
Sad Grandma Pat:(
Two words to describe JOHNNYSWIM is CUTE, the other would be LATE. Let's focus on the first word, the band is composed of husband and wife and they seem very much in love. Which is great, you want to believe that the love songs you're hearing are about two people madly in love. They have great energy and banter with the audience, the songs were great, and I really enjoyed their show.
However, they were also LATE. An hour late, which is more rock-n-roll than I like especially on a Thursday. I really did enjoy the show, they're wonderful but be ware that promptness is not a standard, as neither was the song "Summertime Romance" went specifically for that song and they didn't play it.
If you love chill, hipster, indie, rock, sweet, romantic, funny, and kick ass music...JohnnySwim is for you. The cute husband/wife duo are a collaborative mix of beauty and creativity along with individual blow out musical talent. I really didn't know much about them before attending The Sinclair concert in Cambridge, MA, which btw is a great venue. I was able to get up close with GA ticket and they came out as cute as can be and the sound was just amazing. They would do a little soft and serene, then hard and revengeful, and party and pop along with a little storytellers to fill you in about what the song meant to them. They are fun and energetic and have the coolest vibe.
JOHNNYSWIM was my first concert, and there was no better way to lose my concert virginity. They were so personal with everything they said and everything they sang. Their emotion and realnesss surprised me and made me feel at home, even aroundof bunch of people I didn't know. The song about their son, Wakeem, Georgica Pond, was amazing. I just couldn't stop the tears from falling, it was so relatable. There might not have been many people there my age, but I felt a connection with everyone in that room. I really look forward to seeing them the next time they come around.
JOHNNYSWIM was excellent in concert! I believe you can tell the mark of talented musicians by how they sound in concert compared to how they sound on their album. With JOHNNYSWIM, there literally was no difference. My wife and I loved the venue of the Majestic Theater, the energy of the crowd at the concert, and the talent of the entire JOHNNYSWIM band, as well as their openers Striking Matches. If you enjoy talented musicians who love playing and creating music together, this concert tour is a must-see.
Absolutely one of my most favorite bands to see hands down. This was the 5th show for me and couldn't have been at any better of a venue. They we're warm and loving and super fun and somehow have the ability to make you feel you are hanging in their studio while they record. The intimate performance still got everyone to their feet several times. Can't wait to see them again and again. The sweetest couple ever.
JohnnySwim live was stellar! They share the human experience through their wide range of music. They make you feel as though you're old friends playing for you in your living room-- heart and soul into every song. Be prepared to feel like dancing and crying in the span of a half hour of music. It's an intimate show. Worth it regardless of the reasonable ticket price.
Great show and a very diverse set. Many songs were full band, some were acoustic, some involved both singers, some only one. They made sure to get through a ton of their hits (sometimes shortening them so they could fit more songs in the set), told great stories, and played a memorable encore. Great group to see live.
5th time seeing this incredible band and they did not disappoint! So much fun and so much love. I would recommend going to see them at least once! They have an energy and passion that is contagious and getting to see them in the Mother Church was really the cherry on top of the cake.
