one of my favorite shows ever! jacumba hot springs hotel is already a beautiful venue which was made even more incredible with a super intimate set by balthvs.
psychedelic visuals were on point, adding to the epic desert vibe. even with rain pouring down, the band was composed and rocked the spot!
had a memorable conversation with them after where they signed their new vinyl! DO NOT MISS THEM ON THIS TOUR!
Karl D and Tiny Universe were great as usual. The Belly Up was rocking for this hometown show. It was business as usual with a few Allman Bros. nuggets tossed in (Dreams, Ain’t Wating Time No More). Not to be missed. Organ Freeman opened and this 3-piece Los Angeles band brought the hammer. Definitely will be checking them out next time they are in town.
It’s cool. Too cool. It’s funk. Dumpstaphunk hails from none other than New Orleans aka NOLA, the birthplace of jazz music. The group is comprised of cousins Ivan and Ian Neville who play keyboard and guitar respectively, along with Tony Hall and Nick Daniel III whose bass guitars put the funk in Dumpstaphunk. They even had a chick drummer (heck yeah!) Nikki Glaspie who played with the group for a period of time. Watching her live, drumming and ad-libbing to “Vivrant Thing” makes me want to fist pump the air multiple times. Listening to any of Dumpstaphunk’s three studio albums will bring you to a balmy night in Louisiana, snacking on a beignet or reaching for a cold beer to enjoy while bobbing your head to the groovy beats.
These people have so much soul and so much talent, it is impossible to just sit there and enjoy their music..you have to stand up and dance! I particularly love “Dancin’ To The Truth.” Enough said. With or without lyrics, Dumpstaphunk’s music is enticing, playful, and just plain good for the soul.
These guys put on a great show!!! They are very talented musicians that mix many genres to create a unique sound. I love the EWI! Highly recommended. Go see them if they come to your city.
These guys are phenomenal musicians but the thing I'll remember most about this show is how they interacted with the crowd before, during and after the show. I can't remember an experience like this where they mingled with the crowd then came off stage after the finale that brought everyone together for a final jam. A spectacular show with a great mix of old and new and they played forever. Don't miss any opportunity to see these guys.
As always Scott puts on an amazing array of skills and just downright funky music...great time and stone music boutique really is a great place to enjoy music!!Scott embodies what a gifted artist is all about...
