Set on the edge of the Black Mountains alongside the river Wye in
the famed book town of Hay, HowTheLightGetsIn is the world's largest
philosophy and music festival. There will be debates with the
world's leading thinkers, performance from the UK's hottest bands,
comedy, cabaret, dance and much more.
This year's theme is 'The Known, the Strange, and the New', and
features talks and debates from Natalie Bennett, Roger Scruton, Ken
Livingstone, Owen Jones, and hundreds of others, with many still to
be announced. Our music lineup makes us unique- we know of no other
place where Mercury and Nobel prize-winners rub shoulders. This
year’s music will be supplied by Ghostpoet, C Duncan, ESKA, King
Charles, Gilles Peterson, Nerina Pallot and folk-rock legends
Fairport Convention, to name just a few.
There will also be comedy from Infinite Monkey Cage host Robin Ince,
all-night parties and cabarets, and a luxurious spa.
The festival is produced by the Institute of Art and Ideas (IAI TV).
