Admiral Fallow

Hailing from Scotland, something that is quite evident when you hear them sing, Admiral Fallow is a unique collective who play a combination of folk, indie and pop – if you are able to imagine such a thing. Formed in 2007, they still have all their original members in the band after seven long years of working together, which is an achievement in itself. They are probably most well known for the song 'Squealing Pigs', a track used on the former NBC hit show 'Chuck'.

Admiral Fallow played their own set in the lovely KEXP studio, somewhere where the more artistic bands with complex musical structures flourish. Fallow began their set with the song Tree Bursts, a tune which contains a beautiful, calming clarinet throughout. Sarah Hayes' vocals very much compliment the relaxed nature of the song as do the symbols. Louis Abbott is also a brilliant vocalist who has a raw element to his voice which is great to listen to live. The bridge of the song was memorising, with only the symbols being tapped softly as Louis, Sarah and Kevin Brolley all sang together. The group later played Squealing Pigs, which was a lot more upbeat than the previous song and contained a lot more folk-like finger plucking and also more evidence of an electric guitar. Despite the contrast, it was another winner by Admiral Fallow, who create the type of music that makes you happy to be alive.

This was my third ever gig at the deprived age of 27! And was truly lovely! Each memeber was independently fantastic and came together perfectly!The clarinet was beautiful and loved the drums!! The songs were brilliant and we brought an album afterwards! Dead Agaisnt Smoking was truly the standout of song and a new favourite of mine! Thank you for a lovely evening! Laura, Manchester.

Great new songs, played some classics extremely well but mentioning the merch table a bit too often started to grate! Would've liked the set to be a little longer, too!
