John Cafferty, originally performed as John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band back in the 70s and 80s, but it went pretty darn well for them with their eclectic following who have stayed true to the band since their debut, that they figured why not tour now? This fantastic four piece tear through a slew of some of their biggest hits to date such as “One the Dark Side”, which made it to number 7 in the US chart back in 1984. There are songs that feature some fantastic musicality where everything just simply works and it sounds as though they have been playing as a unit for well over thirty years, with some songs just turning into little jams here and there. “Tough All Over” which made it to number one in the US main chart is a mid set song that generates huge hype amongst the patrons, with singing along and dancing amongst the stalls. This set wouldn’t be complete without “Hearts On Fire” which closes the set in style.
My second time seeing John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown band at magic City and they were fantastic! Cafferty puts on a great show, climbing on the bar and belting out classics from the loved Eddie & the Cruisers soundtracks. "Garden of Eden" was just electric that night. Also the saxophone player, Tunes, is phenomenal, following Cafferty on the bar and going further, traveling the stadium seating while blowing his horn and later escorting every lady in the audience on the stage for "Some Like it Hot". His shows are some of the best I've seen in my life.
