Julianne Hough is one of those artists in Hollywood who can do it all. She made her name as a world-renowned dancer alongside her brother, Derek. Not only that, she is an actress with a handful of big films to her name such as Safe Haven, where she is cast opposite Transformers star, Josh Duhamel, not to mention when she starred in the movie adaptation of Rock of Ages as lead girl, Sherrie Christian. Throughout the film she sings some of the most mammoth hits of the 80’s such as a mash up of Brian Adams’ ‘Heaven’, and Extreme’s ‘More than Words’. She also hits some high notes in a memorable duet of Journey’s ‘Any Way You Want It’, and ensemble performance of Whitesnake’s ‘Here I Go Again’, epitomizing the 80’s through the medium of musical theatre.
Unsurprisingly, Hough, this seasoned entertainer, can perform these songs live it seems, but it would appear that her music career is that of a country and western nature with her album, which was recorded in Nashville debuted at no.1 on the top country albums chart, and peaked at no. 3 on the Billboard 200.
She performed her song “That Song in My Head” at the most prestigious annual country event, The Grand Ole Opry, complete with a big smile across her face, as she looked at the adoring audience in disbelief. Of course it wouldn’t be complete with out a somewhat provocative performance of Jingle Bell Rock alongside country and western heavyweights, Martina McBride and American Idol Alumnus, Carrie Underwood. Hough holds herself very well in high esteem, knowing that she’s worked very hard to earn the extravagant position that she is in today. Definitely worth the watch.
