Islandman

For this Polygon edition, Islandman founder Tolga Böyük performs solo. For the first time, he reimagines Islandman’s music for a fully spatial system — the material taken apart and rebuilt across the room, rhythm receding as texture, resonance and depth come forward.

Performed live in 360°, Islandman’s sonic world moves around and through the audience, unfolding as something dimensional.

Tolga Böyük is the founder of Islandman, an Istanbul-born project pushing the boundaries of Anatolian music through hypnotic electronic rhythms. Islandman has released four LPs on Music for Dreams, recorded Direct-to-Disc Sessions for Night Dreamer Records with legendary percussionist Okay Temiz, and performed at festivals including Montreux Jazz. Böyük also works as a film composer and serves as co-music director of Air Anatolia, with whom he appeared at the London Jazz Festival.

Böyük is currently based in Berlin, where he runs his own label, Rest In Space. At Polygon Portal, his music takes on a new dimension.
