Her solo performances have taken her across the USA as well as abroad. Attending U.C.S.D. for undergraduate work majoring in music, then on to the University of Arizona for Masters work in harp performance. She has performed for the Los Angeles Southeast Symphony Orchestra as Principle harpist at the Walt Disney Concert Hall and for many public and private events including for First Lady of the United States Michelle Obama and President Barack Obama. She has performed with the artist Ne-Yo at the BET Awards and has toured Africa and performed in major jazz festivals across the USA with Jazz in Pink. Mariea’s CD “Straight From The Harp -Special Edition” reached the top 5 of the Smooth Jazz Global and Billboard Charts and was considered for Grammy nominations in 5 categories. Mariea’s newest CD “All My Strings” is scheduled to debut in April 2020. Her hit single from this CD, “Overture” debut on the Billboard top 5 and held the #1 position on the Smooth Jazz World Listener Chart for over 6 weeks and is currently #24 of 100. Mariea received the Black Women in Jazz and the Arts Award in Atlanta,the Black Music Award in LA this past year, and Mariea received the San Diego Prestige Award for Best Instrumentalist in November 2018. Mariea also performed with her Band/Orchestra at the San Diego Smooth Jazz Festival on June 30, 2019 at the Embarcadero in San Diego and received “rave reviews” from the promotors and sponsors, and more recently Mariea performed with an all-star cast of musicians at Jazz Valentines Weekender, in Carmel CA and Her album “All My Strings” made top 100 albums in 2020 Mariea is currently booked to headline at Catalina Island Jazz Trax in October 2021.
