I’m a guitarist myself, and I love watching talented musicians master their instrument, but Stanley Jordan is in a league of his own. His stills on both guitar and piano are some of the best that I’ve ever hears, and witnessing it live was simply incredible. I was sat relatively near to the front of the auditorium, and seeing his fingers dance across the fret board with such ease was absolutely mind blowing.
From his performance, it was totally evident that he’s been playing his instruments since a very young age, and the ease and casual stance that he took when he played was relaxing to watch as an audience member, and seeing that he was enjoying himself made me enjoy his show even more. With so many prizes and awards under his belt I was extremely honoured to be at his show, and incredibly excited to hear the set.
He opened with a new song I’d not heard before that used his touch technique of two handed tapping on his guitar which was incredible, and I’ve only heard it done on recordings before, so to see it before me was incredible.
