Beautiful show !!! One woman band show using her voice to loop sounds. Very cool ! Second time seeing her live and loved her show. She sweetly threw long stem roses into the audience after her last song to celebrate Valentine’s Day. I was lucky enough to catch one ! She comes from wonderful music stock and is coming into her own as an incredible artist. I look forward to more shows and music.
You hear that surname, McFerrin, and you only have one thought on your mind - ‘Don’t Worry, Be Happy’. It’s true that Taylor McFerrin is the oldest son of Bobby, the man who brought us one of the most laid-back of all the reggae anthems way back when, but that’s not to say that he’s only notable because of who his father is - or, indeed, that he’s made any attempt at continuing his dad’s legacy stylistically. Having been raised in New York, McFerrin Jr. is instead more concerned with the modern stylings of DJing and beatboxing, although he is primarily a singer-songwriter. So diffuse are his musical interests that his live shows have become diverse affairs; expect skittering beats, vocal looping, and raw intelligence permeating both McFerrin’s lyrics and the way in which he reinterprets his material for the stage; it’s interesting to note just how much the cerebral nature of the way in which he’s meshed together different styles really jumps out at you once you witness him actually doing it on stage.
