Martin Harley is widely regarded as one of the UK’s finest contemporary roots musicians, celebrated for his spellbinding slide‑guitar work and a sound that moves effortlessly between Americana, blues and folk. Born in Cardiff and raised in Woking, he first made his mark with The Martin Harley Band, a genre‑bending acoustic blues trio known for its inventive instrumentation and rich vocal harmonies.
Over a career spanning more than two decades, Harley has released eight albums, recording across Texas, Nashville, Wales and the UK, and earning praise from The Guardian, Roots Magazine and Guitarist Magazine. His music has appeared on The Vampire Diaries, Banshee, and PBS’s Music City Roots, and he has performed at Glastonbury, Royal Albert Hall, Union Chapel, Beautiful Days, and Tønder Festival.
Renowned for his warm vocals, bottleneck slide mastery, and intimate stage presence, Harley continues to push the boundaries of contemporary roots music. His latest album, Morning Sun, recorded in Manchester with producer Nigel Stonier, showcases some of his most accomplished songwriting to date

Frankly not my favourite venue as I am in choosy old age but less than packed and a great new sound system set the tone for a great night. Elles had Matured in presence and delivery and her voice impressed as always. Martin harley great guitarist and vocalist and two top side kicks also entertained. The publicity had focused on the electricity of muddy waters and a sole cover near the end was less impact overall than erhaps I had anticipated. A muted crowd response perhaps led to a perfunctory end and no encore although I think Martin Is not a fan of the convention. Would I recommend yes thoroughly just try to avoid preconceptions.
