Firebeatz consists of Tim Smulders and Jurre van Doeselaar. The pair met whilst both were studying at the School of Arts in Tilburg, The Netherlands, where they formed a bond due to their shared musical interests. They formed Firebeatz in 2008, beginning to make music together that would soon deliver results. Tracks such as “Funky Shit,” “Where’s Your Head At” and “Miniman” all faired well on the Beatport dance charts, showing the potential of Firebeatz to create dance floor-filling EDM anthems.
Collaborating with Chocolate Puma for the track, “Just One More Time Baby,” they began to turn the heads of high profile DJs, including BBC Radio 1’s DJ Pete Tong, who played the track on his show to positive praise. The track also topped the Beatport House chart for a number of weeks. Another collaboration also brought Firebeatz big success, working together with Schella for “Dear New York,” which reached number two on Beatport’s main Top 100 chart.
The duo were not about to stop creating killer dance tracks, with “Gangster,” released in 2013, breaking into Beatport’s top 20. Tiesto also released one of their tracks on his label, Musical Freedom, releasing “Ding Dong,” a collaboration with Bobby Burns. Calvin Harris took notice of the pair, releasing their track, “Yeahhh” on his label, Fly Eye Records. He then went on to assign Firebeatz with a remix of Harris’ track, “Thinking About You,” a collaboration with Ayah Marar. Hits continued to flow, with “Max Ammo” breaking Beatport’s top 20, followed by their joint effort with Marin Garrix reaching the top spot in 2013. Firebeatz have managed to take their music to new genres through a vast number of collaborations and remixes, with artists such as Pitbull, James Blunt, Snoop Dogg, Flo Rida, Timberland, Fatman Scoop and Sean Paul. The latter of which reached the top 15 of Beatport’s main chart.
After meeting at Art School in Tilburg and discovering they had similar musical preferences and utilising the natural chemistry which had been formed, Tim Smulders and Jurre van Doeselaar forayed into producing Dutch house and simply known by the moniker Firebeatz. Since 2008, this partnership has gained momentum as releases like ‘Funky Shit’ and Where’s Your Head At’ scored them raving chart success on renowned Beatport and saw their fan base sky rocket. Collaborating with progressive house DJ Schella on ‘Dear New York’ took the act to new heights as the media exposure came pouring in and snagged them the number two spot on Beatport’s Top 100 chart. Having remixed an array of artists such as: Calvin Harris, Snoop Dogg, James Blunt and Sean Paul, all from contrasting genres demonstrates Firebeatz’ capability of genre crossover and therefore extending their appeal.
Playing to thousands upon thousands, Firebeatz turn up the heat live. From the offset they have the crowd in the palm of their hands, as a sea of bodies bounce up and down in perfect synchronisation as the drop lands. The energy which permeates through the crowd ceases to flail as Firebeatz provide the perfect balance of build-ups, drops and seamless cohesion accompanied by billowing show smoke and bathed in and orange and red glow.
