Young Guns formed in 2009 and after the release of the early EPs 'Weight Of The World' and 'Daughter Of The Sea' they began to gain attention on the rock circuit and were offered the chance to open for Lostprophets on their tour in August. The debut album 'All Our Kings Are Dead' was released on their own label Live Forever on the 12 July 2014 and managed to chart at #43 in the UK album charts, an impressive feat for a self release from a new band.
It was received positively by fans and critics alike and the band found themselves playing on some of the UK's most high profile festival stages including Download and Reading & Leeds' main stage. They preceded a successful festival summer circuit with their own European tour which extended their fan base further and they were then offered the chance to support All Time Low which took them around Europe once again and offered them the opportunity to play some of the UK's larger venues such as The O2 Academy in Brixton.
The band started recording their new album at Karma Sound Studios in Thailand with producer Dan Weller and the first single 'Learn My Lesson' was premiered on Zane Lowe's BBC Radio 1 programme as his 'Hottest Record In The World'. The 2012 album 'Bones' was released on February in the UK and September in the States and broke the top twenty on the UK album charts, their reputation grew further and they continued as a regular on the UK festival circuit. It was announced in 2014 that the band had signed to major label Virgin EMI and they will be collaborating with producer Dan The Automator. The first single for their third album, 'I Want Out' was once again played on BBC Radio 1 UK Zane Lowe's Hottest Record.
Waving the flag for modern British Rock, here we have the alternative rock quintet - Young Guns. Having formed from the departure of previous local bands, they released their debut EP, 'Mirrors' in 2009 increasing levels of excitement about this upcoming band. After garnering interest from numerous support slots, Young Guns gained the attention of influential British Rock magazine Kerrang!, they secured an opening slot of the renowned Kerrang! Tour in 2010 alongside The Blackout and All Time Low. Performing tracks such as “Winter Kiss” and “Daughter of the Sea” demonstrated Young Guns’ incredible potential and they were warmly received by audiences.
The release of their phenomenal debut album “All Our Kings Are Dead,” which demonstrated the band’s tight musicianship, was met with great acclaim. From there on, Young Guns have been on a constant high. Just when you thought you couldn’t get much better than AOKAD, they then released “Bones,” a more emotionally raw, vulnerable album rife with personal experiences perfectly matched with Gustav Wood’s powerful vocals. Featuring anthems such as “Bones” (selected as WWE’s Wrestlemania soundtrack), “Learn My Lesson” and “Towers," the album set the band in good stead to travel all over the world perfecting the Young Guns live experience.
Putting their all into every performance and the ever present emotional connection, whether it’s a tiny headline club show or opening festivals stages, the undeniable energy and that tightness both musically and in terms of friendship transpires into the crowd, mesmerising as they witness a spectacle of magic.
