Jay Smith

Jay Smith is a singer songwriter signed to Columbia Records, who has made some pretty big waves in the scene to this day and take to the stage with his classic American singer songwriting sound. He’s one of those artists who is all about covering big songs, and tonight he throws in some pretty unsuspecting songs such as “Like a Prayer” originally by Madonna. The only thing that is missing is the funky backbeat. His voice is fantastic though, carrying the song from start to finish in great style. He gives a performance of “Bad Romance” in a way that you probably haven’t heard before. It’s such a different version to the original lead by acoustic guitars. The only thing that I would say is that it’d be much better if he went to some even more obscure sounds and experimented a little bit more. The idea is fantastic though, hearing all your favourite songs performed in the space of an hour. Great stuff Jay Smith.
