A name that is huge on the indie rock circuit, Scottish trio The Xcerts are currently playing a selection of shows previewing some of the material on their anticipated third album 'There Is Only You'. A huge hit Stateside, the boys have had cult successes with their first two releases and have earned a loyal fan following on both sides of the Atlantic.
The boys seem to get the balance between indie pop and heavier rock, and their music which is full of moments of sweetness sitting aside angst and turmoil. The second album found them following a far more aggressive path which the band worried would lose some of the early fans but luckily they enjoyed it just the same. Their live shows are always passionate displays from all musicians, lead vocalist Murray's fringe flicking wildly and he jerks and dives around stage with his guitar as if it has materialised in his hands.
Although a primarily rock sound, the distorted pop of 'Gum' and 'He Sinks, He Sleeps' keeps fans dancing and jumping to the infectious melodies. A real favourite, 'Shaking In The Water' is a clear favourite as the crowds cheer at its introduction and bellow the chorus back as one. The band will be supporting Deaf Havana in Coventry on the fourth of October before heading to the US to warm up new material before returning for a full length UK in November.
