There are just some cases where bands prove more popular in other territories than their own, it’s just the way of the world. This couldn’t be truer for pop/rock band Orson, hailing from Hollywood who found the UK welcoming their music with open arms. Formed in 2000, the band self-financed their debut album “Bright Idea” and released it through Mercury Records in 2006 which headed straight to number one in the UK charts and achieving platinum status. The album featured hits such as “No Tomorrow” and the self-titled track “Bright Idea” showcasing their infectious brand of power-pop/rock providing plenty of anthems. The following year, Orson were awarded a BRIT for the Best International Breakthrough Act. There was no stopping them as they went onto play mainstream UK festivals: T in the Park, Oxegen and V Festival. It was really a no-brainer when the band decided to up sticks and move to London to further their career where they wrote and released their follow up album “Culture Vulture” in 2007.
Orson possess an abundance of explosive energy, and that electric spark is ignited from the moment they step on stage. Their happy-go-lucky nature transcends through the crowd as they perform “Bright Idea” in which a sea of bodies fervently jump up and down, held together by the deep bass tones amassing a great sing-a-long. Scanning the crowd it’s heart-warming to see an array of people singing along to “No Tomorrow” enthused by ever apparent energy. Orson really are a band for everyone.
