First of all let it be known that I can't remember the last time wrote a review for anything. I felt compelled this time though just because I knew I had to.
I first saw Skylar Gudasz back in May of 2017 opening for Robyn Hitchcock and was pleasantly taken aback by her free flowing guitar riffs and had been wanting ever since then to catch another performance of hers and it seemed that the timing had always just been off.
Flash forward 17 long months and it seems that the planets and stars aligned. I found myself seeing her again at "The Pinhook" in downtown Durham, NC and me thinks my experience can only be described as a pleasant dream that you are having and you don't want to be roused from it. Skylars vocals blend so flawlessly with the guitar strings. Picture someone pouring milk and honey into a cuppa, albeit rather slowly. Yup, her new song "Play Nice" was definitely a pleasure to hear, and only left me wanting to drink in so much more.
Why I only heard of her a year and a half ago I do not know why. I will say that seeing her perform her craft has defiantly broadened my horizons and makes me happy that I'm living in this lifetime.
Waiting patiently for the planets and stars to do their thing again.
