Kendra Morris and Taylor Williams

Soul. A completely unique entity within every person that is the center of emotion, thoughts, and everything else that drives you forward. To bare your soul in any form is extremely daunting, but there are those of us that are brave enough to do so, just like Kendra Morris. The singer-songwriter, based out of New York, bares her soul to you when you perform, and you don’t feel so alone in the world anymore. Watching her live performance is extremely intimate. Even if there are hundreds of people in the building, she emits so much emotion that you feel as though you are not supposed to be there. Backed by a band of a guitarist, bassist, keyboardist and drummer, you can feel each note reach deep within you and extract all of your thoughts and feelings. Even if you don’t think you are an emotional person, her music and her voice can change your feelings so that you can empathize with her; whether that’s a memory of your own, or her emotions, you are stricken with so many emotions and thoughts. The music is just funky enough that eventually your body starts to move to the beat as well. There is no substitute for soul music, there really isn’t.
