Gilbert was originally signed to Colt Ford's label, Average Joe's Entertainment where he released the singles "Modern Day Prodigal Son" and "Halfway to Heaven" alongside others.
Since being signed with Big Machine Records he released two albums, which was a deluxe version of "Halfway to Heaven" and the album "Just As I Am".
In 2009 he released his debut album which was "Modern Day Prodigal Son", which got good recognition in the Country music scene.
In 2011 he did the Willie Nelson's Country Throwdown Tour and Taste of Country Christmas Tour. The following year he headlined for Hell on Wheels.
His singles "Country Must Be Country Wide" and "You Don't Know Her Like I Do" both got to number one on the Hot Country Songs chart.
Gilbert during his career also helped to write the single's "My Kinda Party" and "Dirt Road Anthem" for Jason Aldean.
His second album "Just As I Am" was released in May 2014. The main single was called "Bottoms Up", which reached number one. The second single on the album called "Small Town Throwdown" featured Thomas Rhett and Justin Moore from his record label. The third and popular single on the album was called "One Hell of an Amen".
Having worked as solo artists, Keifer and Shawna Thompson decided to form a duo, with their first work together appearing as backing vocalists for Ty Herndon's song, "Right About Now," in 2007. Things started to take shape for the pair, eventually landing a record contract with Stoney Creek Records, a division of Broke Bow Records. Their debut single, "Let's Fight" appeared mid-2010, receiving largely positive reviews.
Thompson Square began to garner attention through their well-constructed country-pop that melded classic rock and troubadour folk into their unique style. After their first single, they released their second in July 2010, titled "Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not," co-written by David Lee Murphy and Jim Collins. The song became the duo's first number one single, reaching the top spot on the Hot Country Songs Chart, going on to be certified double-Platinum. Their self-titled debut followed a few months after in February 2011, produced by New Voice Entertainment. Their third single from the album, "I Got You" also faired well in the country charts, reaching number eight. This was followed by their fourth single, "Glass," which peaked at number 15.
The duo's talents were recognised in 2012, after they received the award for 'Top Vocal Duo' at the Academy of Country Music Awards. They returned with the first single of their new album late in 2012, releasing, "If I Didn't Have You," which went to number one on the Country Airplay Chart by May 2013. The single was to be the lead track of their second album, "Just Feels Good," which was released in March 2013. The album charted well, reaching number 4 in the US Country charts, number one in the US Indie Charts and number 13 in the Billboard 200. After the strong success of their second album, Thompson Square were again awarded with an Academy of Country Music Award in 2013, receiving the award for 'Vocal Duo of the Year.'
Brantley Gilbert put on an amazing show at Jam in the Valley. His music is a perfect balance of rock and country. Songs like "Bottoms Up" and "Kick it in the Sticks" keep the show full of fun and energy. At this particular show he even brought out country star Colt Ford to sing, "Dirt Road Anthem", a song they recorded together that is featured on Brantley Gilbert's second album. Brantley Gilbert's bad boy, "country outlaw" attitude is so much fun to watch as he is performing. He has a way of interacting with the crowd throughout the entire show; whether he is having everyone sing along or coming out to the crowd to shake hands and high five. At one particular point during the show Brantley Gilbert pulled my 8 year old son up on stage to sing "Bottoms Up" with him. Watching Brantley Gilbert singing with him on stage and getting the crowd into the song at the same time was so entertaining. I have seen Brantley Gilbert twice, and to be honest I cannot wait to see him again. I would totally recommend anyone who enjoys music and/or concerts to go to a Brantley Gilbert concert. You will not be disappointed.
My girlfriend and I saw the country duet Thompson Square at the Grand Ole Opry while we were visiting her parents in Nashville. Even though they were not the main even she was like oh my god we have to go since she has been a huge fan of theirs since they first hit the scene.
I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed the concert. It was my first time at the Opry which is such a classic venue. Shawna was very attractive in the sheer black dress she wore and her husband Keith and her just have an amazing chemistry. Its obvious they are really into each other.
The big hit they played was "If I Didn't Have You". This song is such a powerful love ballad. It really speaks to both my girlfriend, well fiancee really, and myself. It embodies how I feel about her and really doesn't it embody how most couples feel about each other? Maybe I am just a hopeless romantic when it comes to such things.
But you know what? I think everyone else in the Opry that night felt the same way. There were couples from the very young to the very old singing along and some were even in tears. I will always remember this night I got to spend with my fiancee.
