The Black Seeds hail from Wellington in New Zealand, with a genre of music being a concoction of afrobeat and soul music. It’s music that just makes you feel good, makes you want to chill and dance at the same time if the ever was such a thing. They have this audience dancing from the very first note that they play in a track called “Year of the Pig”, which is lead by a guitar put through a wah wah pedal, playing a catchy line up until the vocals coming. I love that the made line of the vocals sang band frontman Barnaby Weir, is paired with the trombone and saxophone. There is just something about that texture of sound that makes you want to join in. Despite having no idea what the words are! There are points throughout this set that turn into a little bit of a jam, but it’s no problem as these jams flow seamlessly from song to song. They finish with a track called “Take Your Chances”, and tonight they play the extended remix, almost making sure that everyone in the audience is having a good time.
