Charming Disaster

Charming Disaster is a goth-folk musical duo based in Brooklyn, NY, formed in 2012 by Ellia Bisker and Jeff Morris. Inspired by the macabre humor of Edward Gorey and Tim Burton, the murder ballads of the Americana tradition, and the dramatic flair of the cabaret, they write songs that tell stories about death, crime, myth, magic, folklore, science, and the occult. Their new album, Our Lady of Radium, was inspired by the life and work of scientist Marie Curie.

Yoko OK is an artist, singer/songwriter and video editor who is also the art director for the musical book club Bushwick Book Club Oakland. Dibson T Hoffweiler is a guitarist, composer, and therapist. Dibson and Yoko both moved to Oakland after a decade of being fixtures in New York City’s anti-folk scene. Over the first year of the pandemic, they wrote a song together almost every week. Their new album, People Pleasing, is the result of this collaboration, recorded in their separate homes during 2020.

Tickets are $15 advance/$20 at the door general admission; $10 advance/$12 at the door for low-income/students. Children under 12 are free.
