This tour would have been for THE GITS w/ various support ...but...
The Gits' amazing singer Mia Zapata, was murdered in Seattle days before start of tour. The cops didn't try hard enough to find the killer and he disappeared. Surviving GITS members hired a P.I. to locate the killer. Exit the band known as "THE GITS", Enter rocker Joan Jett who was a huge Gits fan. She used Zapata's murder as inspiration for a song she wrote with Kathlene Hanna of Bikini Kill and le Tigre. They made a video for MTV and THE GITS objected. Jett met with the surviving Gits and decided to form a band to do some gigs to raise real money for the investigation and some awareness about rape and violence in the music / club scene around the country. A U.S. tour was booked including the above show at Johnny Dep's Viper Room.
The Gits would have a temp singer in Jett. (who had a flat next doot to the Viper Room with Darby Crash from The Germs) and an album called EVIL STIG was released by Warner Bros but they didn't promote. The CD Only released in Japan contains half Joan Jett songs and half by THE GITS but no money for the expensive murder investigation was to be found. The rest is on late- night Crime TV re-runs, A&E, Court TV, Unsolved Mysteries etc.
