Atmospheric, haunting and electrifying (Literally!)
Bathed in shades of deep blue and purple. The Union Chapel reflected the mood of Ex:Re's music with the same passion as Herbal Tea, the talented support act who perfectly set the tone for Elena.
Opening with the last song on album, My heart and seamlessly transitioning into the heavy, sorrowful notes of the opening song Where the time went, Ex:Re had us all under her incantation. What followed was a passionate performance of the rest of the album, of which, The dazzler was particularly captivating, finishing with Elena harmonising with Josephine's vocals perfectly.
The set closed with an energetic performance of Romance, making the church feel more like a nightclub with heavy chest thumping bass and the walls painted pink (This not before Elena confessing to having been electrocuted by the mic in a pervious song!) and we'll deserving of the standing ovation it received.
The encore to the gig was far and away a show stopper. The crowd left breathless as Ex:Re's pained voice screamed "I need your lovin" from Becks Everybody's gotta learn sometime, ending the gig on a powerful high.
Amazing venue, amazing music, amazing night.
delightful experience, seeing them in a very small venue, which Elena herself said that was uncommon for them. the sound was amazing, the vibe, incredible, they were inspired, focused but relaxed at the same time, and you could feel that.
there was a night of funny moments and the best music, I'd definitely go to see Ex:Re live a thousand more times.
