Live reviews
Was at Washington Art Centre last night to catch the opening gig of Damian Wilson and Adam Wakeman's UK tour. Only a small venue with seats for a 100 or so which made for an intimate setting and a hugely enjoyable evening.
They are very good friends which showed throughout with lots of good humoured banter between them and anecdotes which they were happy to share with the audience.
Adam Wakeman is a highly accomplished pianist and Damian Wilson has such a powerful yet emotional voice, singing heartfelt acoustic songs from their Weir Keepers Tale album and a couple off the soon to be released second album on the one hand then belting out Take him Home from Les Mis on the other.
Songs followed from their back catalogues and we were then treated as a finale to a jazz piano version of Black Sabbath's Iron Man and a piano/accoustic guitar rendition of The Evil thst Men Do and The Trooper from Iron Maiden.
Brilliant stuff and i would highly recommend seeing them if you can.
Their debut album is just superb and their second sounds like it's going to be just as good.
