One of the first “proper” bands I followed in the 1970s when I was too young to go out much so its great to have the chance to see them now, albeit with only two previous members still present.
Pete French and Steve Bolton have still got it and the new guys in the band play as if they’ve always been there too.
We have now seen them 3 times in the last year and they are actually getting better with each show and on top of that they’re approachable and friendly people who appreciate their audience and the bands history.
A great venue too with some terrific acts lined up later in the year.
I was a bit worried by their opening welcome ‘hello Skegness’ where they were the previous night but Atomic Rooster played an excellent set. Like many in the audience I remembered them for Tomorrow Night and Devil’s Answer which where both played in the first half of the set, illustrating the strength of their back catalogue. Enjoyed the encore Arthur Brown’s ‘Fire’
Great support from Creedence Clearwater Revisited who also covered Screamin’ Jay Hawkins and Leadbelly
Brilliant venue too with superb sound and lighting
First saw Rooster at Cambridge Rock Festival in July 2018, then again a week or so later at A New Day. Was only vaguely aware of them before that first show but really enjoyed their set. The second show was at least as good - can`t wait to see them again at Giants Of Rock late Jan 2019, then at the Dagenham Roundhouse late March. HOW is it I've only just discovered this band?! Glad I have, just love their music now
